Submissions

The UBC Law Review invites the submission of articles, case comments, and book reviews that would be of interest to our diverse academic and professional audience. We are currently accepting submissions.

Please note the following guidelines:

    • Articles should not exceed 15,000 words (approximately 60 pages double-spaced).
    • Case Comments should be between 4500 to 10,000 words.
    • Book Reviews should be not less than 1500 words.
    • In addition to three photocopies of the manuscript, an electronic copy in Microsoft Word 2000 should accompany each submission. Word 97 is acceptable. WordPerfect or RTF format is not.
    • An abstract of not more than 250 words must accompany the manuscript.
    • References must conform to the Canadian Guide to Uniform Legal Citation (5th Edition) (the “McGill Guide”).
    • Footnotes, numbered sequentially, are required; in-text citations are not acceptable.
    • The Canadian Oxford Dictionary is used as a reference for spelling and the New York Public Library Writer’s Guide to Style and Usage is used as a grammatical and stylistic reference.
    • UBC Law Review does not accept simultaneous submissions.

As a refereed journal, all submissions are subject to review and no submission guarantees publication. Manuscripts will not be returned. The Editors reserve the right to make such editorial changes in manuscripts as are necessary to ensure correctness of grammar and spelling, clarification of obscurities, and conformity to style.
